My first ever poem defined the difference between jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins (which was maybe more like a kindergartener's technical document than a poem) and thankfully, my writing has improved since then. I like reading and writing realistic fiction, memoirs, and essays. Poetry and story writing is a healthy way for me to obsess over using perfect words and phrases that would take too long to think of in a conversation.
